[ISP] Convicted Felon Arrested for Possession of Loaded Gun
Start Date: 8/7/2012Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 8/7/2012End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Seymour, Indiana – On August 7, 2012 around 3:42 p.m., Adrian K. Green, 22 of Indianapolis, IN was arrested for alleged possession of a hand gun by a convicted felon, a class B felony.  He was also arrested for allegedly committing the following class A misdemeanor offenses; possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia, and false informing a class B misdemeanor.  It was later discovered that Green had an outstanding warrant for two counts of criminal confinement issued out of Marion County.

The arrest resulted from a simple traffic stop when Trp. Randel Miller, a 5-year veteran of the state police, stopped Green for following too closely as he was driving north on I-65 near the 53 mile marker.  During the traffic stop Trp. Miller with the assistance of Trp. Stephen Wheeles and his canine, Kane, developed information that permitted him to search Green’s car and resulted in the discovery of a loaded hand gun, suspected processed marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Green had been convicted for carjacking and robbery.

Often people will complain that police should arrest ‘real’ criminals and not waste time with traffic enforcement.  This is just one more of many examples of a criminal being taken off the street due to a simple traffic violation.  In the law enforcement business this is called ‘looking past the ticket’ when criminal activity is found during a traffic stop.

Green was subsequently arrested and transported to the Jackson County jail and incarcerated.

Also arrested was Daniel M. Wells, 24 of Indianapolis for false informing a class B misdemeanor. Wells was a passenger in the car.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
