Entry Description
Indianapolis – Last night around 11:20 p.m. the Indianapolis Post received reports of a serious crash on I-465 west bound at the 27.9 mile marker. Officers arrived to find the crash involved a Honda passenger car and a Victory motorcycle. West bound traffic was diverted off of I-465 onto US 31 until 3:10 a.m. this morning while officers investigated the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed the car, driven by Kevin Scott Davis, age 24 of Indianapolis, was traveling at a high rate of speed in the center lane of I-465 when it ran up on and struck the motorcycle, which appeared to be traveling at or slightly above the posted speed.
The motorcycle ended up approximately 200 yards west from the point of impact off the right side of the road and over an embankment. The Honda car came to rest against the barrier wall to the left after striking the wall at least twice.
The motorcycle driver, Todd Klebes, age 41 of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda, Kevin Scott Davis, was not injured and was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death, Class “B” Felony. He was lodged in Marion County at the Adult Processing Center.
The scene was investigated by Indianapolis District Troopers Jordan Hall, Kurt Steinkamp and Ivan Martinez. The investigation is ongoing. They were assisted by the Lawrence Police Department and Carmel Police Department.
Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver. |
