Entry Description
Shelbyville, IN- Wednesday afternoon, June 20th, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Indiana State Police arrested Lyman Wayne Dawson, 23, of Whiteland, at his residence on a Shelby County Superior Court 2 warrant. Dawson was arrested without incident and transported to the Shelby County Jail where he is being held without bond.
The investigation began January 8th, when Chief Keith England of the Shelbyville Police Department requested the Indiana State Police conduct this investigation involving two different shootings and multiple crime scene locations spanning several blocks. Dawson was reportedly shot by Shelbyville police officers.
After a six month investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division the case was turned over to the Shelby County Prosecutors Office for review. Shelby County Prosecutor, Kent Apsley has charged Dawson with 17 felony counts and one misdemeanor.

12. Carrying a Handgun w/o a License Class C Felony
13. Resisting Law Enforcement Class D Felony
“It was initially not known whether Mr. Dawson would survive the injuries he received in the exchange of gunfire with police on January 7, 2012,” stated Apsley. “Information developed during this ongoing investigation suggests that Mr. Dawson has now recovered to the extent that he can and should stand trial for his action on that evening.”
