Entry Description
Clay County—Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post have concluded their nearly week long investigation into allegations that a Clay City man had sexual relations with a 14-year-old female acquaintance from rural Clay County.
Anthony G. Sappenfield, age 19, of Clay City, IN. was arrested Monday afternoon (June 11th) at the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post. Sappenfield was incarcerated in the Clay County Jail on three counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, class C felony. His bond was set at $25,000 with no 10%.
ISP detectives were notified of the allegations on the 5th of June by the victim’s parents. During the course of their investigation, detectives developed information alleging Anthony Sappenfield had sexual relations with the female on multiple occasions beginning in April of this year and ending in June. The sexual acts are alleged to have occurred at the victim’s home.
The case was investigated by ISP Detective Chris Carter. Assisting were ISP Detective Sam Stearley, ISP troopers Brandon Mullen and Todd Brown, Clay County Department of Child Services, and the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office. |
