Entry Description
Morgan County—On Saturday evening June 2 at 8:30, Indiana State Police troopers, along with emergency agencies from Morgan and Putnam counties, responded to a two-vehicle crash on Little Point Road at Interstate 70. The crash claimed the life of one driver.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2010 Chevy Tahoe pulling a camper and driven by Jason L. Stouder, age 35, of Wichita Falls, Texas, had exited eastbound I-70 at the 51 mile marker and stopped for the stop sign at Little Point Road (Little Point Road also known as County Road 1100 west, travels north and south over I-70). The Stouder vehicle then proceeded east across Little Point Road in attempts to enter the eastbound on-ramp of I-70 and was suddenly struck broadside in the left rear by a southbound gray, 1994, Nissan, Sentra, driven by Jeffrey A. Rosenbalm, age 53, of Martinsville, Indiana.
Jeffrey A. Rosenbalm was pronounced deceased at the scene from blunt force trauma by Morgan County Deputy Coroner Scott Kelley. Seatbelt was in use. Evidence at the crash scene lead troopers to believe the Rosenbalm vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and alcohol may have been a factor. A driver’s license check revealed Mr. Rosenbalm was operating his vehicle with no valid license. Toxicology results are pending and may take up to two weeks for results. Any questions concerning the coroner’s report should be directed to the Morgan County Coroner’s Office at 765-342-1033. The Rosenbalm family has been notified.
Jason L. Stouder was not injured nor cited.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Mike Wood. Assisting were ISP troopers Jonathan Cumbie, Steve Jordan, Allen Deal and Dustin Mathews, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County Coroner’s Office, Cloverdale Police and Fire Departments, Putnam County Operation Life, and Curtis Towing.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
