Entry Description
On Monday May 28th, 2012 at approximately 5:11 p.m. CDT, Senior Trooper Dwayne Halliburton responded to a vehicle fire on I-80 westbound near the 11 mile marker.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Joey K. Rodger, 27 years old from Shelbyville, TN was driving a black 1999 Ford pick-up. The vehicle was loaded with three charcoal grills; one of them had hot coals inside which ignited the bed liner of the vehicle. Gary Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Mr. Rodgers stated that they were at an Indiana Beach near Monticello, IN and another person loaded the grills onto the truck and he did not know that one of the grills had hot charcoals in it. Once the fire was extinguished, Mr. Rodgers drove the damaged truck away.
Assisting agencies were the Gary Fire Dept and the Hoosier Helpers. |
