Entry Description
Overnight Restrictions on I-65 Next Week
To Seal Shoulder Pavement
MARION COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans a pavement preservation operation next week on Interstate 65 south of Indianapolis.
Rieth-Riley Construction, the state’s contractor, will restrict the right lane of I-65 as a chip seal is applied to the shoulders in both directions between I-465 (Exit 106) and County Line Road (Exit 101). The nighttime lane restrictions will begin at 9 p.m. and are expected to end by 6 a.m.
Crews are expected to work on the southbound side on Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30 and continue on the northbound side on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1. This work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
Chip seal is the treatment of a pavement surface with liquid asphalt and crushed stone to prevent surface pavement deterioration. It provides weatherproofing, crack sealing and improved friction. |
