Marion - This afternoon, a month long illegal narcotics investigation by Master Trooper Ron Halbert, Trooper Ron Fisher, members of the Joint Effort Against Narcotics Team (JEAN), and the Grant County Sheriff’s Department resulted in the arrest of James Weir, 61, rural Marion, IN, on felony drug charges.

Today, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers executed a Grant Superior Court I search warrant on Weir’s residence at 7854 East County Road 300 South, Marion, IN. During their search officers allegedly found 35 marijuana plants, approximately one pound of processed marijuana, and approximately $2,500 worth of hydroponic growing equipment.

Weir was arrested and incarcerated in the Grant County Jail on two class D felony charges for cultivating marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

The confiscated marijuana had an approximate street value of $15,000.
