Entry Description
Vigo County—Indiana State Police detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division at the Putnamville Post have concluded a nearly six week investigation into allegations that in early February of this year, an Indiana State University student downloaded multiple child pornography images onto his personal computer using the main server of the university.
Arrested: Taylor Austin Bruckerhoff, age 20, of Newburgh, IN. Bruckerhoff was arrested around 5:30p.m. today, as he (accompanied by his attorney) surrendered himself to ISP detectives at the Vigo County Jail. A Vigo County Superior Court 3 arrest warrant had been issued charging him with one count of Child Pornography, class C felony and one count of Child Pornography, class D felony. He is currently in the Vigo County Jail on $25,000 bond, with no 10% acceptable.
The investigation began on March 12, 2012 after the Indiana State Police received a tip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which provided investigative leads pertaining to digital images of child pornography on e-mail accounts and social media sites allegedly linked to Bruckerhoff. On April 3, 2012, a Vigo County Superior Court 3 search warrant was executed on Bruckerhoff’s ISU dorm room, electronics, and vehicle. During the forensic examination of his personal computer, multiple (less than 100) digital images of young female child pornography were discovered. Investigators were also able to determine that Bruckerhoff allegedly used an on-line “Chat Room” for the potential purpose of purchasing and/or disseminating child porn.
The lead investigator was ISP Detective Sergeant Troy Stanton. Assisting were ISP Detective and Digital Media Recovery Specialist Chris Carter, ISP Detectives Sam Stearley and Jim Dungan, Indiana State Police Cyber Crimes Unit and the Indiana State University Police Department.
Please direct any questions to ISP Sergeant Joe Watts.
