Entry Description
Jasper County-Indiana State Police Trooper Corey DuPuy responded to a single vehicle crash, early this morning, where a Crown Point woman rolled her vehicle on I-65.
Preliminary investigation revealed that, at approximately 12:10 am, Sunday, April 15th, a black 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Brianna Thompson, 18 of Crown Point, was north bound on I-65 at the 206.8 mile marker (this is approximately two miles north of the Remington/Rensselaer exit) when for unknown reasons the Accord drifted off the roadway.
The Accord drifted to the left, into the median, where it hit the steel median barrier cables; this caused the Honda to rotate then roll-over. Thompson and her passenger, Dylon Collins, 16 of Gary, were initially entrapped in the Accord but were able to free themselves from the vehicle before DuPuy arrived.
Thompson and Collins were taken to Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer for non-life threatening injuries. Thompson had cuts, bruises and a back injury. Collins had cuts and abrasions and complained of pain to the back.
Thompson was not wearing a seat belt and was cited for that violation.
The left lane of I-65 northbound was closed for approximately an hour for removal of the injured and the vehicle. |
