Indianapolis Traffic Restrictions Update

INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers can learn the locations of work zones before departing by calling INDOT’s TrafficWise at 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or online at www.TrafficWise.IN.gov.  INDOT reminds drivers to follow posted speed limits, maintain a safe following distance, use caution and remain aware of workers and other drivers when traveling through a work zone.

NORTH SIDE:

Allisonville Road at I-465

  • I-465 ramps at Allisonville Road will have overnight restrictions on Thursday, April 12 and Friday, April 13 to place temporary striping and concrete barrier wall.

 

  • Center Run/86th Street will have overnight lane restrictions between Allisonville Road and 82nd Street for removal of center median and paving operations from Monday, April 9 to Friday, April 13.

 

  • Keystone Avenue northbound ramp from 86th Street will have overnight restrictions on Friday, April 6 or as soon as nighttime temperatures allow for paving and striping operations.  Crews are working to facilitate increased traffic flow in anticipation of the Allisonville Road bridge closure. 

 

US 31 Hamilton County

  • US 31 southbound to Keystone Parkway is expected to close on April 9 for 90 days.  This closure will be followed by an 80-day closure of Keystone Parkway northbound to US 31.

 

  • US 31 northbound will have short-term stoppages overnight (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) from Monday, April 9 to Friday, April 13 for demolition of the southbound Keystone Parkway bridge.

 

  • 146th Street over US 31 will have overnight (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) left lane restrictions in both directions beginning Monday, April 9 for approximately two weeks to install median curb.

 

  • US 31 southbound is expected to be redirected on Thursday, April 12 to share the east side of the roadway with northbound traffic.  Two lanes and turn lanes will be maintained in each direction.  The existing southbound roadway will be closed as reconstruction begins.  Access to US 31 from Circle Drive will be closed and Frontage Road will provide access to Clay Terrace Boulevard.

 

  • Clay Terrace Boulevard and Rangeline Road at US 31 will be shifted to temporary pavement on Friday, April 13 as construction begins on a ramp from US 31 southbound to Clay Terrace Boulevard and a bridge over Rangeline Road.  One lane of traffic will be open in each direction and a new intersection with US 31 will be used. 

 

  • US 31 at SR 38 is reduced to one lane in each direction.  Southbound traffic is redirected to share the east side of the roadway with northbound traffic.  Northbound entrance and exit ramps are open.  Southbound entrance and exit ramps are closed.

 

EAST SIDE:

  • I-70 eastbound will have a right lane restriction at Mitthoffer Road (mile marker 92) from 9 p.m. Thursday, April 5 until 6 a.m. Friday for guardrail repairs.

  • I-70 in both directions from Post Road (exit 91) to just east of Mt. Comfort Road (exit 96) has shifting work zone traffic patterns with median crossovers.  Two lanes of traffic remain open in both directions. 

WEST SIDE:

  • US 40/Washington Street eastbound will have alternating lane restrictions beginning Monday, April 9 at 9 p.m. to install crossovers between I-465 and Glen Arms Road.  Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on the south side of the road beginning Tuesday, April 10.
