INDOT to Begin Improvements at
US 52 & German Church Rd,
Buck Creek Bridge
GREENFIELD, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Rieth-Riley Construction are beginning improvements to the intersection of US 52 and German Church Road and the nearby Buck Creek Bridge.
Rieth-Riley Construction, the state’s contractor, plans to initiate a work zone traffic configuration on Tuesday, March 20 by narrowing driving lanes and shifting traffic to the southern half of US 52. Traffic will be maintained on both US 52 and German Church Road throughout the project as the highway is widened in two phases.
Rieth-Riley will lengthen both the eastbound left turn and westbound right turn lanes on US 52 to accommodate increased traffic volume turning onto German Church Road. The project will also increase the area of the intersection to improve right turns. The project will also widen and rehabilitate the US 52 bridge over Buck Creek, located just east of the German Church Road intersection.
A second traffic change this summer will shift traffic to the north half of the highway as the southern half is widened. All work affecting traffic is expected to be complete in November.
Drivers can learn the locations of work zones and highway restrictions before they depart by calling INDOT’s TrafficWise at 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or view an online map at www.TrafficWise.IN.gov.
Quick links to information about work zone restrictions and roadway conditions, as well as the latest INDOT news can be found at www.indot.in.gov. |
