End Date: 2/28/2012
Entry Description

Putnam County-An investigation lasting just over one month into allegations of inappropriate physical contact involving three adult male staff members of the North Putnam High School and a 16-year-old male student of the high school, resulted in three arrests. At the time of the alleged crimes, the three men were employed by the North Putnam High School in various teaching and or leadership roles within the school.

Nicholas A. Vester, age 24, of Lafayette, IN., (1) count of Child Seduction, Class D felony
Craig E. Rogers, age 24, of Indianapolis, IN., (1) count of Child Seduction, Class D felony
Brandon D. Largent, age 20, Crawfordsville, IN., (1) count of Child Seduction, Class D felony

Early this evening, Indiana State Police troopers arrested Nicholas A. Vester at his home in Lafayette. Craig E. Rogers and Brandon D. Largent relinquished themselves to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. All three are currently held without bond. An initial court appearance is tentatively scheduled for 11:00AM Wednesday morning in Putnam Circuit Court.

The investigation began on January 18th, 2012 when the Indiana State Police received information alleging inappropriate contact between three adult staff members at North Putnam High School and an underage male student. Further investigation into the allegations led investigators to believe that on multiple occasions between October of 2011 and January of 2012, the adult males individually and separately engaged in various acts of a sexual nature with the student. The acts are alleged to have occurred on school property after hours and at locations away from school property. The adult males also sent text messages and photographs to the teenage victim.

The investigation was conducted by ISP Detective Jason Calloway of the Indiana State Police Crimes Against Children Unit with assistance from the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Unit Task Force (participating investigators from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and the Carmel Police Department), Indiana Department of Child Services, and the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.

Questions concerning this release should be directed to ISP Sergeant Joe Watts.

Questions concerning the employment status of the three men should be directed to the North Putnam Community School Corporation at 765-522-6218.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
