[ISP] Person of Interest Arrested After Crash
Start Date: 2/18/2012
End Date: 2/18/2012
Entry Description

White County—Today at 6:43AM, Indiana State Police Troopers from the ISP districts of Lafayette and Lowell, along with Jasper and White County Sheriff’s deputies, arrested an Indianapolis man identified as a person of interest in an alleged early morning domestic related shooting involving a female. The alleged shooting took place near 86th and Meridian Streets in Indianapolis. The arrest came at the conclusion of a nearly 41 mile police pursuit of the suspect.

Ronald M. Moore, age 34, of Indianapolis, IN. was taken into custody by troopers on suspicion of felony Resisting Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, and Operating While Intoxicated in relation to the vehicle pursuit. Ronald M. Moore is currently in the White County Memorial Hospital awaiting transfer to Wishard Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department contacted the Indiana State Police after receiving information that Moore was possibly at a rest park on northbound Interstate 65 at the 196 mile marker. ISP Trooper Ben Rector and White County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the rest area at 6:01AM and located Moore’s vehicle, a black, 2007 Dodge Charger. As the officers approached the vehicle, Moore suddenly fled the parking lot northbound on I-65 with the officers in pursuit. Near the 220mm, Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies deployed stop sticks which Moore traveled over, but continued on. At the 237mm Moore’s vehicle became disabled from the tire deflation and came to a stop. Moore allegedly resisted the officer’s and was contacted with an electronic control device (taser) by a Jasper County Sheriff‘s deputy. Moore was taken into custody by ISP Trooper Brian Rubesha and transported to the White County Jail. Once at the White County Jail, Ronald Moore became unresponsive and was transported to the White County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Moore is still undergoing treatment for his unresponsiveness and there is no indication that improper police procedures are related to his illness.

Questions concerning the Marion County shooting investigation should be directed to Sergeant Linda Jackson of the IMPD Public Information Office at 317-327-3424.

Questions concerning Moore’s incarceration should be directed to the White County Sheriff’s Office at 219-583-7103.

Questions concerning the Indiana State Police should be directed to ISP Sergeant Joe Watts.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
