Entry Description
Indianapolis- At 8:05 a.m., Senior Trooper Mike Meinczinger was on patrol, sitting stationary, westbound I-465 when his car was struck from behind.
Preliminary investigation revealed a tan Ford Focus, driven by Sara Gamon, 20, Indianapolis, IN, was westbound on I-465 at mile marker 5 when she lost control of her vehicle after hitting her brakes. Gamon’s vehicle spun out of control, hit the barrier wall and struck the stationary state police cruiser which was operated by Trooper Meinczinger. The State Police vehicle, an unmarked 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, was sitting on the inside shoulder when it was struck.
The impact caused the State Police vehicle and the Ford Focus to spin into the high speed lane where both came to rest in the high speed lane. Investigators said impact from the Ford Focus was so hard, the driver’s seat of Meinczinger’s vehicle broke. The ISP Cruiser was totaled from this crash.
S/Trooper Meinczinger, 38, sustained minor injuries from this crash. He was treated and released. Ms.Gamon was not injured. |
