Entry Description
Jennings County: A North Vernon man is facing four more felony charges following a second investigation. Last April Indiana State Police arrested 49 year old James D. Smith of North Vernon on one count of Child Molesting and one count of Attempted Child Exploitation as a result of an investigation that began in February, 2011. Since the conclusion of that investigation, another alleged victim has come forward accusing Smith of molestation. The victim, a female now 10 years old, alleges Smith molested her back in 2009. Detectives Roger Drew and Jan Graves began the second investigation earlier this month and turned their findings over to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s office for review. After a review charges were subsequently filed against Smith in Jennings Circuit Court alleging four counts of Child Molesting (Class C Felony). The most recent warrant was served on Smith yesterday at the Jennings County Jail where he is still being held in connection with the original charges from last year.
Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. |
