Entry Description
INDOT Plow Truck Drivers
Continue Fighting Winds
GREENFIELD, Ind. – A full crew of drivers maintained highways through the night. A second full shift will replace them at noon today to continue battling additional snow accumulation and the winds, which are expected to continue blowing through the day.
Although roads are generally in good condition, drivers should take it slow and watch out for areas where blowing snow is sticking to the road. These areas can be unexpected and dangerous on a road that is otherwise dry, but road condition can vary on different roads and road segments with the current snow and wind.
Depending on local conditions, INDOT might not apply melting chemicals to these areas. A wet surface can attract more snow accumulation and could refreeze, which could make areas with blowing snow more dangerous. It is important that all drivers plan for additional commute time, maintain a safe speed, and be alert for changing road conditions.
INDOT will keep drivers on duty throughout the day until the wind and weather subside. To check highway conditions before departing, visit www.TrafficWise.in.gov or www.indot.in.gov for links to INDOT news and information. |
